La Nonpareille / The Incomparable

Through a series of glass slides which were used between ca. 1900 and 1960 for lectures by teachers of the department of Mechanical and Maritime Engineering and Electrical Engineering at TU Delft, Batia Suter reflects on how lives and technology became increasingly intertwined in the past century. Suter combines historical slides of machines and sheep with contemporary abstract forms of packaging, totem-like sculptures, and blurred perspectives. The book plays with the balance between humanity and machines, asking us: How do machines affect your way of life?
