Off Camera is a visual essay that explores the myriad forms in which photography manifests itself today. In four chapters – The Photographic Fossil, Chemical Matter, Optical Confusion and Performing the Image – four tentative notions about photography and the way it influence the visual arts in general are explored. The book contains works by more than 40 photographers and visual artists. Three texts in which artists and photo-historians and collectors give their assessment on the current state of the medium. The authors are Joanna Zylinska, Markus Kramer and Marc De Blieck. The book has been compiled by Steven Humblet in the framework of a research project at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp.
