Edited and introduced by Sezgin Boynik and Tom Holert, this book explores ‘About Narration’ (Erzählen), directed by Ingemo Engström and Harun Farocki. It features the film’s script alongside historical documents from its production and Farocki’s previously unpublished theoretical essay on the project. Also included is a retrospective essay by Engström on the film’s political and artistic context. Volker Pantenburg examines the conditions of its making, while Boynik and Holert provide concluding reflections. An interview with Cathy Porter on Larisa Reisner, a key figure in ‘About Narration’, offers insight into the militant writer who inspired Engström and Farocki.
