Sweet Thang zine #8

Issue 8 of Sweet Thang zine centres the theme of Dreaming as a form of freedom-making. With essays, speculative fiction, poetry and visual art by 21 Black artists spanning the UK, Europe, the US, the Caribbean and Africa, this issue is a vessel for re-imagining the past, present and future on micro and macro levels. You’ll find poems about choosing life and the necessity of weaving dreams and ancestral calls into reality. There’s speculative fiction inspired by a family photo at a New Years party in 1960s Congo, and a story that charts the intertwined dreams of two lovers. You’ll read about theories of radical chaos and the desperate need for interconnected resilience through the lens of jazz modalities. You’ll meet on the dancefloor, in the cinema, in bed, in nature, at an altar.
