Gläntan (The Glade) – On Making an LGBTQI+ Monument

When Gläntan, Gothenburg’s LGBTQI+ monument by Conny Karlsson Lundgren, was inaugurated in 2023, it marked the culmination of a multi-year process combining art, research, and public participation. This book traces the project’s development from concept to realization through photographs, archival materials, documentation, and essays. It follows the workshops, conversations, and collaborations that shaped both the monument and its wider social context. Reflecting on LGBTQI+ history, visibility, and collective memory, the publication also considers Gläntan’s ongoing role as a place of encounter and future narratives. Essays by Rebecka Katz Thor, Patrik Steorn, and Andria Nyberg Forshage complete the volume.
