Counter to the current period of political anti-intellectualism felt worldwide, in pop culture books are once again becoming objects of desire and markers of identity, hinting at inner depths but also proving that thought can be staged. The relationship to the book is made visible, almost performative. The 2025 catalogue, with concept and design by Sabo Day, is very much in this spirit. Performance artist Mathias Ringgenberg is photographed in a way that captures a unique moment of complicity with the winning books, while the staging brings together certain codes that are particular to this pop culture trend.
